Improve your knowledge of wine as well as your ability to taste and describe wine. These classes were featured in the Wall Street Journal article "Learning the Ropes about Vines."

Class 5: "New World" wine regions - U.S., Australia, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, New Zeland: In short all regions outside of Europe.

We will taste wine from 8 different countries.

A series of six classes, including wine tastings of at least 6 wines during each class, will be offered for $39 per class or $215 for all 6 classes per person. Advance registration is required.

Topics covered throughout the 6 class series will be:

- how to taste wine and describe it

- grape varietals and their characteristics

- history of wine

- basics of the vineyard and of winemaking

- wine flaws

- overview of the world's wine regions

- in-depth coverage of Washington, California, Italy, Australia, Spain

and France

- matching wine and food

- trends in wine
