2009 Sandhi Chardonnay Santa Barbara, California
(90 Points: International Wine Cellar) Light yellow. Tighter and more linear than the 2010 bottling, showing bright citrus and green apple aromas and flavors and a note of candied ginger. Nicely dry, focused chardonnary with strong finishing cut, length and lingering spiciness.
2008 Genuine Risk Red Bordeaux Blend Santa Barbara, California
A Bordeaux-style wine with fruit from Santa Ynez Valley, the 2008 Genuine Risk is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 26% Petit Verdot. Aged for 18 months in 30% new oak. Great aromatics and full flavor with excellent balance. Red fruits and tobacco fill the glass.
2009 Hocus Pocus Syrah Santa Barbara, California
A blend of cool climate Syrah (biodynamically farmed Presidio Vineyard) and warmer climate Syrah (sustainably farmed Dierberg-Starlane Vineyard). A well proportioned drink and one of the better values around. Dark red fruit is framed by a good spice and structure.
