This is the first installment of our Wine Dinner Series, and Franciacorta in Lombary is a great place to start. Join Simone Majolini as he walks you through the vineyards and talks Franciacorta "the Champagne of Italy" at this intimate food and wine pairing dinner. Simone Majolini's family has been associated with wine in Franciacorta since the fifteenth century. In fact, a native grape variety called "Majolini" still today bears witness to this historical past. Majolini is located in the north-eastern area of Franciacorta called Ome. The soil in Ome is made up of layers of pure white limestone (known as "medolo"), which contributes minerals and structure to the Franciacorta wines produced there. Limestone is also an important component of the soil in the Champagne region of France. Matteo Bergamini, Executive Chef of SD26, hails just a stone's throw away from Franciacorta by Lake Guarda, in Lombardy, and has composed a magnificent menu to seamlessly pair with Simone's magnificent sparkling wines! Passed canapes to start the evening with 5 course menu to follow, all paired with a different Majolini Franciacorta wine. If you are a Franciacorta and Champagne connoisseur or novice looking to explore the signature sparkling wine region of Italy...this dinner is not be missed. The dinner is $150 per person which is inclusive of all wine, food, tax and gratuity.
