Wine OR Wine & Food
Festival weekend is a time to celebrate the trends of today, but for our annual Tribute Dinner at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel we honor the pioneers who left an indelible mark on the culinary and wine worlds. This evening’s soiree celebrates chef Charlie Trotter and winemaker Piero Antinori. Anthony Bourdain will serve as the evenings master of ceremonies.
Now, in its 25th year, Charlie Trotter's namesake restaurant in Chicago is regarded as one of the finest culinary establishments in the world. Charlie Trotter's is innovative and progressive in the world of food and wine and instrumental in establishing new standards for fine dining worldwide. This Mobil Five Star award-winning restaurant garnered 10 James Beard Foundation awards, including 'Outstanding Restaurant' (2000) and 'Outstanding Chef' (1999). Wine Spectator named the restaurant 'The Best Restaurant in the World for Wine & Food' (1998) and 'America's Best Restaurant' (2000). In addition, Charlie Trotter’s received two-stars from the Michelin Guide in 2010.
For Piero Antinori, family history is a narrative about devotion to winemaking that is woven through 625 years, 26 generations and stretches from the family’s legendary vineyards in Tuscany and Umbria to its latest ventures in Washington State with Col Solare and in California with Antica Napa Valley and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. The Antinori reputation has grown throughout the centuries by making innovative choices, making it one of the leading Italian producers of fine wines.
A “who’s who” of chefs will pay tribute to Trotter and Antinori with symbiotic dishes that show the relationship between exquisite wine and unforgettable cuisine. Chefs scheduled to cook in the Loews kitchen include: Loews own Frederic Delaire; Wylie Dufresne; Michelle Gayer; Emeril Lagasse; Nathan Myhrvold; Patrick O'Connell; and Norman Van Aken. All courses will be paired with a wine from the Antinori collection.
A live auction will round out this exquisite event, which will begin
with a cocktail reception and passed hors d'oeuvre prepared by Nathan
Myhrvold, author of the smashing best-selling book Modernist Cuisine: The Art and Science of Cooking.
The previous Festival Tribute Dinners have always been magical and
special in their own ways. Please join us in 2012 and be part of the
tradition.
