Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc & Pinot Noir Style Diversity
Many new and exciting Sauvignon Blanc & Pinot Noir styles are
emerging from Marlborough; from sub-regional expressions through to
styles which reflect a range of viticulture and winemaking philosophies.
The tasting will include wines that are differentiated for viticulture reasons, and also wines which are differentiated by greater winemaker influence. They range from bright, crisp and aromatic, to broader, more textural and age worthy. This seminar will explore new style trends, and showcase wines from the outstanding 2011 vintage.

CVNE (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España) is one of the most renowned
and historic bodegas in all of Spain. Founded in 1879 by the Real de
Asúa brothers, Eusebio and Raimundo, the company has been an integral
part of the Rioja region’s ascendance in the world of fine wine. With
their combination of traditional roots and innovative vision, CVNE has
been one of Rioja’s most reliable sources for high quality wine. The
company is still run by descendants of the Real de Asúa brothers, now
represented by the fifth generation with current CEO Victor Urrutia
Ybarra.
The 3 family wineries perfectly symbolise the 3 essential principles that have always characterised the CVNE philosophy: the respect of heritage evident at the historic Cune bodegas in Haro; the embrace of new technology and innovation in the James Bond-inspired Viña Real facility; and the valorisation of terroir that is Contino, Rioja's most magical vineyard site transformed into truly magical wines.
This fascinating seminar, led by CEO Victor Urrutia Ybarra, will explore the great wines that have propelled CVNE to the forefront of Rioja. You will also be treated to a glimpse of the illustrious family history, with a rare tasting of some their world famous vintage library selections.
