Improve your knowledge of wine as well as your ability to taste and describe wine. These classes were featured recently (2-10-06) in the Wall Street Journal article \"Learning the Ropes about Vines."

Class 6 : Matching wine and food • Germany/Austria

We will explore pairing wine with food and we will taste wine from 8 different wines from Germany and Austria.

A series of six classes, including wine tastings of at least 6 wines during each class, will be offered for $39 per class or $215 for all 6 classes per person. Advance registration is required.

Topics covered throughout the 6 class series will be:

- how to taste wine and describe it

- grape varietals and their characteristics

- history of wine

- basics of the vineyard and of winemaking

- wine flaws

- overview of the world's wine regions

- in-depth coverage of Washington, California, Italy, Australia, Spain

and France

- matching wine and food

- trends in wine
