Red and white Grand Cru Burgundy should represent the very apex of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay respectively. Through the vestiges of their viticultural history, the Burgundians have established that all sites are not equal, denoting their most prized vineyards and the wines that they produce as "Grand Cru." In a perfect world, such wines should not only provide consumers with a distinctly ethereal experience, they should also serve as dedicated ambassadors to the legendary sites that they represent. Thus, Chambertin should be great in a different way than Bonnes-Mares, Chevalier-Montrachet in a different way than Corton-Charlemagne.
This tasting offers a rare opportunity to taste such Metrovino specialties as La Romanee, La Grande Rue, Mugnier's Musigny and Bonneau du Martray's Corton-Charlemagne side by side, exploring the possibilities of what the world's most exalted Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays are capable of.
