Advanced Certificate Level 3

Jay Youmans CWE, MW

Caroline Hermann AIWS

11 weeks • 3 hrs per week • $1250

The Advanced Certificate Level 3 course provides a detailed and intense survey of the wines and spirits of the world. It is a prerequisite for entering the WSET Diploma program.

This class drills down more deeply than the Intermediate level 2 course. The Advanced class covers the wine producing regions and wine grapes in more detail. There is more emphasis on viticulture, winemaking, and tasting. Each week you will taste 8-10 wines that illustrate the topics being covered.

The course consists of 3 hour classes, once a week, for 10 weeks; with an exam on the 11th week. The class fee includes: WSET course book, study guide, guide to the systematic approach to tasting wine, 10 class lectures, copies of the class lecture, practice quizzes, wine, and the final exam.

The exam consists of three parts: multiple choice questions, short answer questions, and a tasting assessment of one wine blind. Upon passing the WSET Advanced level 3 certificate, you will be entitled to use the post nominal as recognition of your achievement. Attendees may only purchase the course as a series.

This is a structured educational class with seated tastings and classroom style lectures.
