The Wine and Spirit Education Trust Intermediate Certificate is the second level of course study in the WSET wine course program. This course is perfect for those with a good basic knowledge of wine. It is the natural progression after completing the Foundation course. However, the Foundation is not a prerequisite before starting the Intermediate.
We have a large number of general interest wine enthusiasts as well as people working in the hospitality industry and wine trade. This is a great course because there is sufficient time to go into more detail about all the major countries producing wine. In the 9 week course you will taste over 85 wines. We always showcase some of the top wines of each country.
9 week course - 1 evening per week from 6.00-9.00 pm.
During the course you will learn about:
- Growing grapes
- Making wine
- The art of tasting
- Food and wine matching
- The classic grape varieties
- French and German wines
- Italian, Spanish and Portuguese wines
- New world wine regions
- Sparkling and Fortified wines
- The major spirits
The Intermediate exam involves a multiple choice question paper with 50 questions. The pass mark is 55%. Our pass rate is 98% for this course. The exam takes place at the very end of each course.
