Wine Craze: Buone Feste!
December 14, 2011 (Wed)
from 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Cost: $5 per glass
Event ID #394824
Italians lead the world in wine consumption – so we can definitely learn a thing or two about their fondness for the grape by exploring their regional wines.
Which will you prefer in this month’s Wine Craze?
December 14
Elio Perrone Barbera d’Asti Tasmorcan
Piedmont, Italy, 2010, Barbera
This gorgeous red is laced with berries, flowers and French oak. The juiciness of the fruit is highly appealing, while the finish is impeccably polished. According to Wine Advocate, this “is a delicious entry-level Barbera from Perrone.”
Gavi di Gavi vigne di San Martino
Piedmont, Italy, 2010, Cortese
A light-bodied wine, it is made from hand-selected Cortese grapes grown in volcanic limestone which are then pressed whole and left to macerate on their skins for a short time. The nose is delicate but persistent with aromas of fresh-cut hay and acacia. On the palate this wine is fresh and harmonious with bracing minerality and a lingering finish.
