Cost: $35.00 per person

Twin Cities Wine Education presents...
THE BLIND SYRAH CHALLENGE
There are few grapes I love more than Syrah. The smoky, peppery, ripe fruit aromas. The firm structure. The acidity it gives when it's from a cooler climate. It's so delicious and so revered and so perfect with many of the foods I enjoy the most (especially off the grill).
And then there's the jammy and hedonistic fruit bomb style, loved and embraced by critics but often vilified by chefs and other wine lovers (including your truly).
So what is the best? When all things are presented equally, does the hedonistic fruit bomb style stand out (in a positive or negative way)? Which style goes best with cheeses? When you have Syrah from the Northern Rhone, the west coast of the United States, and Australia all side by side, does one win?
Join Twin Cities Wine Education for a fascinating evening of Syrah from around the world, tasted in a double-blind format.
Before our blind tasting (which will feature hard to find gems and highly rated trophies from around the world) we'll have an in-depth discussion on the Syrah grape (including history, terroir, food pairings, and more). As we taste through the wines we'll discuss the art of blind tasting and how to deconstruct the aromas and flavors that wine presents. And best of all, we'll try to answer the question "What makes a great wine?"
Bring your toothbrush!
Only $35 per person -- all online registration fees paid by Twin Cities Wine. You may also call North Loop Wine and Spirits for registration at (612) 338-5393. Class begins at 6:30pm sharp. Free parking behind North Loop Wine and Spirits.
