Wine tour to South Africa, hit the trip just got better!
- Our last trip to South Africa was a huge success. So of course we repeat it in 2012! And since we have discovered so many extremely interesting growers so we have this time even more exciting wine visits. Apart from famous Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, we will visit the districts of Durbanville and Wellington, not so well known but very interesting.
Of course we will also have time to enjoy South Africa as a country. We visit Cape Point and Table Mountain and some other "must haves". We eat a lot of good meals and you will have time strolling in the tiny towns of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. Do you want to finish you with a wonderful safari at the luxurious Pumba Private Game Reserve after themselves vinresan.
South Africa's wines need no introduction. We all know the great success that the wines have had since abolishing apartheid in the early 1990s. The country opened up and the world's wine consumers developed a taste for the fruity and hot wines from districts around Cape Town. And the quality is now excellent. From South Africa will present a stream of fine wines. And many wineries are extremely ambitious. There are wines that can easily compete among the world's top wines.
South Africa expect our wine show to the New World, but it's a New World country with a long wine history. 1655 planted Dutchman Jan Van Riebeek, the first vines outside Cape Town. And the Huguenots who came from France in the late 1600s were not slow to follow. The sweet wines of Constantia was famous already in the 1700s.
South Africa has a mild and pleasant climate that resembles a Mediterranean climate. Our trip will take place in early March, when we can expect to have a comfortable warmth, but it's too hot. It is early autumn, but with the weather as soon as is Swedish midsummer - or better! The harvest will be in full swing so many activities out on the field and inside the cellar.
If you have time, take the opportunity to go on a two-day safari for themselves vinresan! You go to the luxurious, five-star Pumba Safari, near Port Elizabeth, where you get royal steward and live in "cottages" with views of nature (if one can call such a luxury "cottages", all have for example a small pool ).
