Wine OR Wine & Food

Gone, Going, Gone...Green!
What: Wine on America's Table: Environmentally Friendly Wines
When: Thursday, August 5
Where: Saddles at MacArthur Place, Sonoma
Reception: 5:30pm-6:30pm
Program and Dinner: 6:30pm-8:30pm

We're speaking "green" at this year's Wine on America's Table. Organic, sustainable, biodynamic-what does "green" actually mean in the world of wine?  So many questions come to mind when diving into this type of winemaking. Why do wineries follow certain practices in grapegrowing and winemaking? Will an organic wine age as well as non-organic? Where does the full moon come into all of this (Demeter-Biodynamic)? Not to mention these goodies: carbon footprint, light-weight bottles, green buildings, sulfites and solar panels. We'll have Guru of Sustainability Ann Thrupp, Ph.D. (Fetzer’s Director of Sustainability and WWS Sustainability Roundtable co-chair).  The wineries of Bonterra, Moshin, Ehlers, Fortunati and Robert Sinskey will be on hand to explain their green practices and answer your questions about the wines.

WWS Sommelier Barbara Paige has put together delectable, delicious pairings of wine and food.
