A Rare Evening with Some of Italy’s Finest Wines
Bistro Don Camillo celebrates its dual heritage with a superb dinner

On Saturday, July 31, Bistro Don Camillo, one of Houston’s first restaurants to feature the unique foods of Nice, will host what could easily be one of the finest wine dinners during Houston’s long summer. Celebrating the Italian/French heritage that has made Nice’s cuisine so unique, the restaurant will present a dinner paired with the finest from its collection of Italian wines.
The dinner, created by the bistro’s owners Jean Philippe and Genevieve Guy along with the Mediterranean skills of Spanish Chef Ramon Marino, will begin at 7 p.m. and include five courses, each paired with wines chosen by Guy. The dinner will take place at Bistro Don Camillo, 6510 Del Monte Drive near Voss. The cost per person is $150 plus tax and gratuity.
In a restaurant best know its French wines for which most wine dinners are sold out, Bistro Don Camillo’s Italian wine dinner is a rarity by itself. But Guy, an avid and active wine enthusiast, has collected a number of Italian wines he feels are truly outstanding. This would be an outstanding dinner at any time, but in the heart of summer when fewer events occur, it is a dinner not to be missed.
Bistro Don Camillo, named for the fictional, post World War II Italian priest, is one of, if not the first, restaurant in Houston to offer the unique foods of Nice, Europe’s playground city in Southern France. The menu reflects the delicious blending of Italian and French cooking that produced a cuisine all its own.
The Bistro, which opened in early 2008, is located at 6510 Del Monte just off South Voss. For reservations, call 713-782-3011 or email
