    Wine:

Varner Foxglove Chardonnay- 100% Chardonnay from the Santa Cruz Mountains. The sensational 2008 Chardonnay Central Coast, which is fermented and aged completely in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation, is a 30,000-cuvee of fabulous Chardonnay. Loads of tropical fruit, honeysuckle, and orange blossom notes fill the olfactory sense, as does the luscious medium-bodied texture on the palate. The wine is buttressed by crisp underlying acidity, and the result is a fresh, naked expression of Chardonnay that is top-flight. 91 pts AV $15.99 Sale $14.39 or $163.10 case

Bodegas Torremoron Tempranillo- Ribera del Duero, Spain. 100% Tempranillo Located in Zone 2 within the province of Burgos (eastern sub-region of Ribera del Duero) in the Town of Quintanamanvirgo at an altitude of 2,703 ft. (824 m). Quintanamanvirgo has a population of 106 people. The winery boasts many qualities rarely seen in Ribera. 60 to 120 years old Tempranillo vines as opposed to many young vines planted in the DO. A 50 years old tradition of wine making and an experienced viticulturist. They offer great quality at a fair price point, rare in Ribera del Duero. This wine sees no oak at all, to showcase the lively depth of flavor in an old vine Tempranillo. Organic AV $11.99 Tasting $10.79

VITA Il Trullo Primitivo del Salento- For centuries, a favorite local Italian grape has been Primitivo. DNA testing has finally revealed that Puglia’s Primitivo, California’s Zinfandel and Croatia’s Crljenak are genetically equivalent (and probably originated in Greece.) Il Trullo is a selected cuvee of Primitivo, made for Villa Italia by local growers and professional winemakers. From 40-year old head-pruned vines, it is hand-picked and vinified in temperature controlled steel tanks. It is bottled young to capture the vibrant cherry fruit which makes Primitivo so immediately appealing. Bottle aging brings out the spicy nuances of the wine, as well as some enticing eucalyptus notes. Though the wine is young and fresh, it has great depth of color and flavor. It also has a firm structural backbone, but soft tannins on the long finish. Shelf $ 12.99 Tasting $11.69
