On Monday, March 29 at 6 p.m., SOPO Wine Co. and local importer Vinilandia will host

a winemaker dinner at Cinque Terre (www.cinqueterremaine.com) to feature

representatives from the Scagliola and Nicolis families, two of Italy’s longtime premier

winemakers.

Cinque Terre Chef Lee Skawinski will welcome Martin Kolk, founder and owner of

Vinilandia of Maine (www.vinilandiausa.com), who will introduce guests to two of Italy’s

finest wine producers for a multi-course food and wine evening.

The Scagliola and Nicolas families produce highly acclaimed wines in the Piedmont and Veneto regions of Italy, which Chef Lee Skawinski and his team visit to source cheeses and wines for the restaurant.  Top-shelf selections from these respected vineyards will be paired with Skawinski’s regional Italian cuisine, and guests will learn from the guest wine experts about the selections to be served.

Skawinski’s seven-course menu will feature aperitif and hors d’oeuvres, antipasti, two meat courses, pasti, formaggio and dolce courses.  Menu highlights will include duck liver mousse, risotto amarone, roasted rabbit with rosemary, and a bollito trio with cotechino, veal cheeks and prime beef roast.

About Scagliola:  The Scagliola winery produces Chardonnay, Moscato, Barbera and Dolcetto wines that have been heralded by respected writers from Wine Spectator and The Wall Street Journal.

About Nicolis:  With 20 acres in the Valpolicella classic zone and 37 acres in Bardolino Classico zone, the Nicolis family’s wines have been lauded by Wine Spectator and Decanter.com

The cost for dinner is $75, and reservations are required.  Call 207.347.6154 for more information/reservations.
