Wine OR Wine & Food
Join us this Tuesday, when Mike Kasper, National Sales Manager for C.G. Di Arie Vineyard & Winery will be here pouring a selection of their wines for you to taste. The winery is located in the Sierra Foothills of California, about an hour and a half outside of Sacramento. Between 5 and 8pm, we’ll be sampling a Syrah, 3 Zins, and a Petite Sirah:
2007 Zinfandel, Sierra
Footills
This fully extracted and well balanced wine is assertive, with deep
color and strong varietal aromas of blackberries with hints of spice which
carries into the mid-palate adding black cherry and plum flavors. The berry
flavors continue to dominate the long finish adding chocolate and vanilla.
2006 Shenandoah Valley
Zinfandel
This is an exciting Zinfandel that is very varietal in
character. It has aromas of dark berries and wild herbs with nuances of black
pepper. On the palate you discover layers of flavors starting with fresh
blackberry and ending with wild strawberry. The finish is long and lasting
with dark fruit, dark chocolate and black pepper. This is an elegant wine
that can be enjoyed "solo" or as an accompaniment of a great meal.
2005 Southern Exposure Zinfandel
Deeply ruby in color the wine has an elegant nose that begins
with blackberries and dark cherries. Under this dark fruit are opulent layers
of vanilla and mocha. Dig further and be rewarded with cracked black pepper,
humus, eucalyptus, and truffle. On the palate the wine explodes with brier
and black pepper. The crescendo of complexity is balanced out by soft tannins
and a lingering dark fruit and cocoa finish.
2005 Syrah, Amador
County
This wine has deep red color with a classical Syrah aroma of
black and green peppercorn combined with a woody cedar character. The dark
berry flavors carry to the palate adding layers of cherry and pomegranate.
This well balanced wine is full of bright fruit and very dry. The wine
finishes with a long and lingering finish adding baking type spicy flavors
combined with toasty and almost meaty notes. Only 948 cases produced.
2006 Estate Grown Petite
Sirah
Inky dark purple, in color the wine has an
elegant nose that begins with blueberries and blackberries. Fruit gives way
to cocoa, smoke, tar, and vanilla. On the palate, notes of pencil shavings
and black pepper integrate with the chewy, dusty tannins. The acidity in the
long, pleasant finish balances the tannins and ends with lingering Bing
cherry notes.
