Local Wine Events

For our first event, we have partnered with John Thiel, Executive Chef and Owner of Culina and Pappo Restaurant.  In 2009, John and his properties were the winners of Alameda Magazine’s Best Of in many categories.  John received the accolade of Best Overall Chef, Culina won Best New Business, and Pappo won Best Overall Restaurant and Best Wine List.  All in all, a very good year.

To make things even better, John has recently made his foray into the world of winemaking, under the name Thiel Family Wines.  He is now ready for his first official release party and has chosen the Alameda Social Club’s inaugural event to serve as the vehicle.  This unveiling will take place at Pappo Restaurant on Tuesday, March 23rd from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Attendees will enjoy a tasting of 3 of John’s handcrafted wines: Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Chateauneuf-du-Pappo (Grenache-Syrah).  Individuals will enjoy an assortment of appetizers to be enjoyed with the wine.  John will also be present for a casual Q&A to discuss his wines and his approach to making them.  Sound like some Island Fun?  Then join us by reserving a spot for this exclusive opportunity.
