Wine OR Wine & Food Event

Wine OR Wine & Food

The idea of a dandelion festival originated because of the unique qualities of Breitenbach Winery's Dandelion wine.  A local Amish family hand-picks 2,000 gallons of dandelion blossoms each year.  The result is a sweet dessert wine.  Wine sampling is available during the festival.  Dandelion Sangria is available only at the festival.

Dandelion food is also a big part of the festival.  The finals for the Great Dandelion Cookoff will be held on May 1.  Various dandelions foods include dandelion salad, dandelion gravy, dandelion sausage, dandelion bread and dandelion coffee.

The festival is a family event.  Live entertainment and arts and crafts are part of the festival.  Kids take part in dandelion scavenger hunt and dandelion picking contests.  Herbalists and speakers talk about the healthful benefits of dandelions.
