THE JUG SHOP PRESENTS:
Faiveley Burgundy Tasting

Burgundy, arguably among the most intriguing of all of the worlds wine regions, stretches north-south along the right bank of the river Saône in central France.
Having more specific appellation laws than any other wine region, the quality of wines can roughly be classified into regional wines, village wines, first growth (Premier Cru) and great growth (Grand Cru) wines grown between Chablis in the north and Lyon to the south. The temperate, continental climate and its northerly position, complemented by ancient calcareous limestone-marl soils provide the perfect conditions to grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

These two noble grapes of Burgundy have been celebrated by Domaine Faiveley since 1825. The family constantly acquired new vineyards on the best slopes, presently making it with 296 acres the largest owner of vineyards in Burgundy.
Domaine Faiveley vinifies 80% estate grown fruit, the balance being from select vineyards under long-term contracts.
The history of Domaine Faiveley spans seven generations, and the youngest director since its foundation, Erwan Faiveley, is taking the Domaine together with technical director Jérôme Flous to the next level.

Vincent Avenel, Faiveley's sales director, will present a selected lineup of the 2006 and marvelous 2007 vintages, among them Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru, Mercurey, Chambolle-Musigny and other premier and grand crus.
