An Exploration of
Dallas’ Dining Alternatives
Those of you who were able to join us this summer for the first dinner in this series (Café Marrakesh) know how much fun it can be to discover a new, off-the-beaten-path restaurant that both surprises and delights. Drawing on over 20 years experience in the Dallas restaurant scene, Mitch Kaufmann and his wife Kristen have fashioned just such a gem in East Dallas. Our hopes of being the first to tell you about this fantastic new restaurant were cruelly dashed on January 1st when Leslie Brenner, Food Critic for the Dallas Morning News named them one of the Best New Restaurants of 2009. Join us on Monday, February 8th as we pair six exceptional, high scoring wines from some of our favorite producers (including a blind flight with the main course) with a delicious five course meal. With only 36 seats available this dinner will surely sell out as quickly as the last one did.
‘Best New Restaurants of 2009’
“Charming, cute, stuffy, noisy, friendly, quirky and definitely original: That's Urbano, the tiny cafe is tucked in a storefront next to Jimmy's Food Store. It's BYOB … and Urbano has become a gathering place, day and night, for the wine crowd. At lunch, simply prepared pastas are heartwarming (hey, it's Bolognese season!) … At dinner, dishes such as seared duck breast with a star anise demi-glace or a pan-roasted half chicken with lemon-fig beurre rouge are not just satisfying, they're also terrific bargains.” Leslie Brenner, Dallas Morning News Restaurant Critic. 1/1/10
