Pinot Noir is considered by many to be one of the most temperamental grapes to grow, and is equally venerated as one of most exquisite and delicate varietals around the world. Itís also a longtime favorite pairing with Thanksgiving turkey! Pinot thrives in France's Burgundy region, mainly up and down the C¯te-d'Or which has produced some of the world's most celebrated wines during the last couple hundred years. It is also planted in Eastern Europe, South America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and South Africa. The United States is now considered a global contender in the production of high quality Pinot Noir winesìin particular, wines coming from the Willamette Valley in Oregon, Russian River Valley in California's Sonoma County, Santa Barbara County, and Sonoma coast. Join Miguel as we compare Pacific Coast Pinots from the United States, making our way up the sunny California coast to the cooler Willamette Valley in Oregon. We will also be going over possible food pairings and covering a brief history of the grape and its various stylistic expressions around the world.
