Merlot has been out of favor with the marketing people lately. Ever since its humble beginnings as Bordeaux’ “other grape” used to soften darker, stronger Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot has been in the shade on and off, depending on which way publicity sways. Yet it’s a classic grape that belongs on the wine map spotlight for no other reason that its complexity and breadth of flavor. Join us on a tour to celebrate this multi-faceted variety. You’ll get to taste the structure and flavor of a 100% Merlot as well as some Merlot-based blends. We will compare the styles from the New and the Old World. as well as discuss excellent food pairings. Come form your own judgment of Merlot!
