LongIslandWineCountry.COM, New York’s premier tour and wine event specialists have announced that they will conduct their 9th annual Harvest Fest event in Long Island Wine Country on Sunday September 26, 2010. The event will be held at Laurel Lake Vineyards, in the quaint hamlet of Laurel, on the North Fork of Long Island.

 

The wine harvest is a vintner's celebration of the culmination of a year's hard work. It marks the transition period in the winemaking cycle from vineyard to cellar. In physical terms, it is the process of picking ripe grapes from the vine.

 

Harvest Fest 2010 is a fun-filled educational event. Attendees will gain a new appreciation for how wine gets into the bottle. Clip the vines, pick the grapes, taste current and future wine vintages, enjoy a delicious lunch and listen to live music by the blues/rock band, The Merc’s.

 

Afternoon activities will include a barrel-rolling contest, where participants compete to win a case of twelve premium wines. Aspiring oenophiles will also have the opportunity to custom blend their own bottle of Bordeaux-style wine for an additional $45. The event will be hosted by Christopher Davies, Publisher & Co-Founder of Wine Country International® magazine. Davies’ is an internationally recognized wine, food and travel journalist, photographer and radio talk show host who preaches “attitude-free” wine!

 

Laurel Lake Vineyards is a modern vineyard & winery focusing on producing premium quality estate wines. The winery building features a massive elevated two-story, wrap around deck that offers a picture perfect view of the vineyard below.
