World of Wine - Discover Italy
February 2, 2010 (Tue)
from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Manchester, Greater Manchester
Cost: £20
Event ID #283734
Join us as we travel through the
very different and fabulous wine regions of Italy. We will taste some
of the myriad of indigenous grapes that make Italian wine so different
and intriguing including - Nebbiolo (Barolo), Sangiovese (Chianti),
Corvina (Valpolicella), and Barbera. Italy can be the most confusing
wine country to get to know, with its enormous diversity of wine
styles, often from the same town! It is, however, worth spending a
little time to understand it, with the discoveries amply repaying the
effort involved. We will wander through the north of the country, from
the NW (Piedmont) to the NE (Veneto), through Tuscany and the Marches
to the warm south (Puglia, Campania, & Sicily). You will
experience, first hand, the amazing range of grape varieties and
flavours that Italy has to offer. You will taste some classic Italian
wines, along with some new- wave wines from really cutting-edge
winemakers.

Wine OR Wine & Food
Italian wine is always best drunk with food, and tonight we shall sample some simple food that complements each wine and we will also focus on which wines make a good match for food.
