Wine OR Wine & Food Event

Wine OR Wine & Food

Celebrate the holidays at the Bernardo Winery this year during Holiday Nights, on the 18th, 19th and 20th of December. The 120 year old Winery, located in Rancho Bernardo, will be lit up for the holiday season with twinkling lights and holiday festivities for the whole family. Step back in time and celebrate among the old world style buildings, olive trees and old fashioned hospitality of the Bernardo Winery! Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be making appearances nightly!

For three nights, the entire winery will be open until 8 p.m. including the Winery tasting room, Village Shops and Café Merlot.  Local artisans and crafters will be set up in the courtyard with everything from jewelry to hand-knit items to fine art.  This is a great opportunity to shop locally for last minute gifts in a relaxed atmosphere with personal service and without the frustration of busy malls. The Village Shops at the Winery have a variety of unique gift items for everyone on your holiday list and attentive personal service to help you find the perfect gift! In the unique shops you will find everything from children’s toys and clothing, women’s clothing, designer handbags and fine art to jewelry and watches, hand-blown pieces from the onsite glassblowing studio, knitting supplies and fresh floral arrangements! The Winery tasting room has a beautiful selection of wines, wine related merchandise, aerators, Payne Mason cigars and locally made gift items.

During Holiday Nights at the Bernardo Winery, guests will be treated to music by local musical groups, strolling carolers as well as local choir groups.  A local horse and carriage company will be giving carriage rides through the vineyard, warm mulled wine will be available in the tasting room and hot apple cider will be served at Sweet Pea Coffee Shop along with their regular menu of coffee drinks, snack items and coffee related merchandise. A special dinner menu and selection of appetizers will be available at Cafe Merlot in their new location in the courtyard.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be appearing nightly during Holiday Nights at the Winery from 5:30 to 7:30 to hear children’s Christmas wishes and for photo opportunities. Bring the whole family! Admission and parking are free for this event.  Please visit www.bernardowinery.com for more details or call 858.487.1866.

The Bernardo Winery, Founded in 1889, is the oldest working winery in Southern California and has been owned and operated by the Rizzo family since 1927.
