Artist Reception for Eric Edwards & Owen Roe Wine Tasting.

2008 Riesling DuBrul Vineyard

Hugh and Kathy Shiels provided the fruit from their 27 year old block of Riesling in the Yakima Valley of Washington. It yielded enough perfectly balanced fruit for us to make 210 cases. The wine's natural high-acidity and low pH with bright tropical flavors are consistent with the finest Rieslings.

2008 Sinister Hand

On this label the family crest depiction of a severed left hand tells the story of a rowing competition among the ONeills & the OReillys (Owen Roe was an ONeill). Whoever touched land first after rowing across the lake was rewarded with the land he touched. Lagging behind, one of the kinsfolk grabs his sword to cleave his hand and pitches it ashore to touch land first. He won the land and eventually ruled over it as king. Our primary source for this wine is Dr. Steve Elerdings vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills, where the proximity of the Columbia River is a vital part of the success of these traditional Rhone varietals. This wine is very dark with fruit flavors, pepper and an excellent texture. The blend is 62% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 3% Mourvedre.

2008 Abbot's Table

24% Zinfandel, 22% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Syrah, 10% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Blaufrankish, 4% Malbec.  Always a favorite! The 2008 Abbots Table is very reflective of the beautiful long growing season in Washington during 2008. With long warm days and cooler evenings, the fruit developed fabulous aromatics and deep rich flavors. The 2008 Abbots Table shows darker fruit notes than the previous two vintages. This very balanced and smooth Abbots Table has the signature velvety mouth feel with enough structure to support generous ripe flavors of sweet red and black fruit, plums, and dark cherries. Every varietal works in harmony to create this gorgeously layered wine.

2007 Sharecropper's Cabernet Sauvignon

The Sharecropper's label has been a huge hit and this dynamite Cabernet Sauvignon is a great successor to last year's version. This label hearkens to the spirit of the old sharecropping ideal of a partnership between landowners and the laborers who toil producing the crops. With an oversupply of grapes, we decided to put some of our excess first-rate fruit into neutral barrels and essentially split the profits with the vineyards. Most of the fruit for the Cabernet Sauvignon comes to us from Dr. Steve Elerding's Six Prong Vineyard in Alderdale, Washington. Plush and forward with fresh berry notes, this wine promises excellent cellaring potential.
