Intensive Certification Course
Taught by Jay Youmans MW, CWE and David Denton CWE
2-days plus 1-hr. exam • $595
The Certified Specialist of Wine certification course (CSW) was developed by the Society of Wine Educators (SWE) in conjunction with prominent members of the wine industry. The CSW has become one of the most important trade credentials in the wine industry today. Companies such as Banfi, E & J Gallo, Kobrand, Trincero Winery, and many national distributors are major supporters.
The CSW program covers basic wine chemistry, viticulture, winemaking, wine service, and the major wine producing regions of the world. To earn the CSW title you must pass a one-hour exam consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions. Successful candidates, achieving a score of at least 75%, are entitled to add the post-nominal to their professional signature. Visit the SWE website at www.societyofwineeducators.org for more details.
Preparation for the exam can be done through self-study with the Certified Specialist of Wine study guide, a 212-page notebook; but many rely on tutored classes to assist them in passing this difficult exam. The course being offered by the Capital Wine School is a two day intensive course (Saturday December 12 & Sunday, December 13) running from 9:00am to 4:00pm, with an hour break for lunch. The one hour final exam will take place the following week, on Saturday, December 19th.
The fee includes the class, study guide, exam. For additional information or questions, please contact us at info@capitalwineschool.com
