During Thanksgiving weekend in November, the boutique wineries of the Lake Chelan Wine Growers Association will celebrate the fall season with the annual Fall Barrel Tasting event.
Lake Chelan Wine Valley was recognized as an AVA in the Federal Register on Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Several features distinguish the Lake Chelan Wine Valley from its neighboring AVA’s including its elevation, soil derived from the crystalline granite of the Cascade Mountains, location in the rain shadow of the Northern Cascade Mountains, distinctive U-shaped topography and vineyards located around Lake Chelan that capitalize on the “lake effect” of moderate air temperatures.
