Villa Medoro Montepulciano D'abruzzo Rosso Del Duca 2006
A small winery from near L'Aquila. This is a Due Bicchieri (Two Glasses) that is silky and supple with deep black-skinned fruit, leather, noble tannins, vanilla, and bing cherries. Recommended with ribeye, NY Strip, Venison.
Carpineta Fontalpino Do Ut Des 2003
This is a SuperTuscan that has received great press. Owners Gioia and Filippo Cresti Winemaker Gioia Cresti makes case only 5,830 (6 pack) cases each year on the 217-acre estate, located just outside the Chianti Classic. She is currently producing some of the most exciting wines in Tuscany, including Dofana, a Sangiovese-Petit Verdot blend that earned a classic, 96-point rating in only its second vintage.
Musella Monte Del Drago 1999
An unusually delicious Cabernet Sauvignon - Corvina blend that drinks like Amarone. It is from the same region in NE Verona, on 50 acres with original vines from 1970. Given the age of the wines and the wine, Musella Monte Del Drago is showing incredible character at this stage.
Pietracupa Taurasi 2003
Taurasi is perhaps the least appreciated winegrowing region in the world. The wines from the Southern Italian zone of Campagnia, are powerful, intriguing, and ageworthy. From the magical Aglianico grape, and with the aid of VinItaly's reigning Winemaker of the Year, this wine will certainly impress.
