Smith-Woodhouse Vintage Port

A conflict arose for the 19th, so we're going with the 16th.

Ellen Taylor Hewit from The Country Vintner will be here to pour and discuss Vintage Ports from Smith-Woodhouse.  Ellen has been on maternity leave, and she's anxious to get back in the game - not to mention that she's a BIG FAN of Smith-Woodhouse.

Smith Woodhouse consistently steals the show when it comes to Vintage Ports - they are eagerly sought out by true Port lovers but often are unheralded when amongst the trade's biggest names - that is until the tasting begins.

We'll start off with the Lodge Reserve Port to kick it off - then on to seven vintages of Smith-Woodhouse: the 2003, 2000, 1997, 1994, 1991, 1985, and 1980.

Following are links with comments for these wines:

2000 ($59.99):Reviews of Smith Woodhouse 2000

1994 ($84.99):Reviews of Smith Woodhouse 1994

1991 ($81.99):Reviews of Smith Woodhouse 1991

1985 ($86.99):Reviews of Smith Woodhouse 1985

1980 $(89.99):Reviews of Smith Woodhouse 1980

When I look at this list, I get that history flashback feeling - I turned 40 in '03, my daughter Jenner was born in 2000, Elizabeth started at W&L in 1997, I moved to Lexington in 1991, etc.  So think about special events or where you were on this list of Vintages.

We'll do the tasting here at the shop for after hours at 7pm; I am genuinely very excited about this opportunity.

Price is $40 and limited to twenty participants (it gets pretty tight in here with any more than that).
