Local Wine Events

In this rare San Francisco visit, Beppe Caviola, oenologist/consultant to many of Italy’s top estates, vintner, and Gambero Rosso’s 2002 “Winemaker of the Year”, will visit Spuntino for a special wine tasting and discussion. 

Although best known for his consulting work with wineries like Bruno Rocca, Vietti, Mauro Veglio, Elvio Cogno, Damilano, Silvio Grasso, Euinadi, Michele Chiarlo, Umani Ronchi, Sella & Mosca and Villa Sparina - in 2008 alone he had 39 “Tre Bicchieri” estates – Beppe is an accomplished winemaker in his own right.  He cultivates his own vineyards in Montelupo and Dogliani to produce Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo-based wines that beautifully showcase the terroir and fruit expression of the Langhe. 

We’ll taste a range of Beppe’s wines, paired with Piemontese cheeses – what’s grown together goes together!  Wines include:

• 2007 Dolcetto d'Alba DOC Vilot
• 2007 Barbera d'Alba Brichet
• 2006 Langhe Nebbiolo
• 2007 L'Insieme (Barbera/Nebbiolo/Pinot Nero/Cab)
