Paso Robles, California—The seasonal flavors of fall will be enjoyed in abundance on Thursday, November 19 as Ancient Peaks Winery and the historic Paso Robles Inn team up for a festive winemaker’s dinner, the first in a new monthly winemaker’s dinner series at the Paso Robles Inn Steakhouse. The cost is $50 per person, all inclusive. “This dinner is a great way to treat yourself to an evening of food and wine before the hectic holiday season gets underway,” said Amanda Wittstrom-Higgins, the winery’s vice president of sales and marketing. “It’s also our way of celebrating the end of the harvest season.” The menu prepared by Executive Chef Kelly Wangard and Sous Chef Karrie Hills will include grilled autumn vegetable terrine paired with the Ancient Peaks new release 2007 Syrah; roasted parsnip soup with pumpkin seed oil and parsley chip paired with the 2006 Oyster Ridge red blend; Merlot-braised short ribs with orzo, butternut squash and cranberry orange gremolata paired with the 2006 Merlot; and white chocolate cherry bread pudding paired with the new release 2007 Zinfandel. Ancient Peaks co-owner Karl Wittstrom will introduce each wine with each course, and will also share stories and thoughts about the recent 2009 harvest. Ancient Peaks is a family-owned winery whose wines hail from the estate Margarita Vineyard, the southernmost vineyard in the Paso Robles appellation near Santa Margarita.
