Winemaker Andrea Machetti of Montalcino’s renowned Mastrojanni Winery.

Join us for a special mid-week event as we welcome winemaker Andrea Machetti of Mastrojanni.

Established in 1975, the vineyards of Mastrojanni Winery are composed of over 90 acres. Located in south-east Montalcino, the vineyards of Mastrojanni have a distinct terroir, which is influenced heavily by an ancient extinct volcano, the nearby Mount Amiata.

The vineyards are situated on the hill with south-easterly exposure. The soils are rich and stony, loaded with volcanic rock. Conditions in the Mastrojanni vineyards could not be more ideal for making outstanding wine.

Mr. Machetti will be pouring some of his flagship wines. Here is the lineup:

2007 Mastrojanni Rosso di Montalcino D.O.C.G. – 100% Sangiovese Grosso aged in Styria oak barrels for 6-7 months, with three subsequent months aging in bottle prior to release.

2004 Brunello Di Montalcino D.O.C.G. – 100% Sangiovese Grosso. Three years of aging in various sizes of Allier oak barrels, with 6-7 months of aging in bottle prior to release. Elegant and refined: A perfect example of the great 2004 vintage.

San Pio Toscana Rosso I.G.T. – A super Tuscan comprised of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Sangiovese Grosso. The wine sees 18 months of aging in French oak barrels and 6 months in bottle.
