Now that autumn is
settling in, it’s time to start gravitating more towards red wines, and we
love blends. Stop by this Tuesday
between 5pm and 8pm and join us for a complimentary wine tasting, featuring
red blends from around the world, include a 2005 Bordeaux. Here’s what we’ll be pouring:
2007 Carchelo "C", Jumilla,
Spain
Good structure, mouth filling, powerful, black fruit and spiciness from
Syrah. 40% Monastrell, 40% Syrah, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, these three
varieties come together to shape a well structured, concentrated and
intensely aromatic blend.
2007 Marques de Borba, Alentejo, Portugal

Perfumed
with flowery strawberry blossom aromas, this medium-colored red wine has a
soft, mild, fruity round texture, with a bit of an herbal edge to the
flavors. Medium in body and gentle on the palate, the fruit is pure and
bright, the tannins low, and the finish satisfying. A blend of Trincadeira and
Aragones.
2005 Chateau Clos Floridene Rouge,
Graves, Bordeaux, France
87-89
Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
This lower pedigree wine represents undeniable quality/value rapport in 2005.
This vintage is so deep in quality among the better run, less heralded
estates, that these wines should appeal to those looking for terrific values
from Bordeaux. Sleeper of the vintage.
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot.
2007 Peirano 'The Other' Red, Lodi,
California
Gold Medal,
Dallas Morning News Wine Competition
One
is immediately struck by the vibrant color of this wine. The aromas of
blackberries and plums are complemented by spice, toasty oak and cedar notes.
Upon washing this liquid across the palate, a wave of sweet black cherries
and boysenberries, with a hint of smoky, dark oak lead to a long, totally
seductive, finish. A great expression of this variety, this wine will gently
knock your socks off. 60% Cabernet
Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Syrah.
2006 Bodegas Alma Negra, Mendoza,
Argentina
89 Points,

Dark
fruits on the nose lead into flavors of dried cherries with a touch of
chocolate wrapped around a well-structured core of dense tannins with a smooth
coating mouthfeel. The finish lingers with dark ripe fruit and balanced
acidity. A blend of Bonarda, Malbec,
and Cabernet Franc.
