Great Cru Beaujolais
The Crus of Beaujolais are the top appellations in the Beaujolais region, which lies just south of the Côte de Nuits of Burgundy. Wines from these top vineyard sites are made from the Gamay grape, the best of which are from very old vines growing on sunny south-facing slopes. These wines are intense and age-worthy, especially in great vintages. Refreshing when young, yet mature wonderfully, gaining complexity and finesse, much like good red Burgundy. But what really sets them apart is their versatility with food. When in doubt of what to drink with your meal, just open any of these Beaujolais.
