Wine OR Wine & Food Event

Wine OR Wine & Food

November - Let's Charge It! (Big reds)

Full bodied red wine - such as Cabernet Sauv, Cab Franc, Bordeaux, Super Tuscans, Brunello, Meritage, (some), etc. (Basically, anything that would be good with a big steak or a rich dish, so "big red" can be defined how you want to...but when in doubt, go with Cab Sauv or Bordeaux.)

This is our splurge month, so the price is $35+ per person or $60-70+ per couple.

Members: free

Non-members: $5

("member" defined as someone who has paid the $30 membership fee)

Guidelines:

-If you are coming alone: one bottle of wine, priced in the range listed.

-If you are part of a couple: either one or two bottles of wine, totaling 2 times the range listed (ie one expensive bottle or 2 priced the same or any variation is acceptable)

-Bring some information on the wine and or winery; a review, info from a website, etc. (more than just what's on the bottle)

-Bring wine glasses / snacks if you want and dishes to eat them on

-A pen and notepad to jot down notes (you may also download our tasting notes)

-Of course, be respectful of the host's home and belongings- throw away your trash right away, put the toilet seat down, etc.

-Please RSVP ASAP, and make sure to update if your availability changes, as we limit attendance. ($5 cancellation fee if no show or cancel with less than 48 hours notice)

-Always arrange safe transportation home.

About the St. Louis Wine Club:

We don’t think you should have to choose between learning about wine and having fun. Our unique meetings and events mix learning with fun and without a sales pitch. A typical meeting is a “BYO” format: each person/couple brings a bottle of wine, in addition to some information about the wine and / or winery it came from. Each person talks about why they chose this particular wine and shares the information they brought, then the group tastes the wine and discusses what they think of it. The next day we rate the wines and post the ratings on the website.

We typically meet twice per month, on the 3rd Sunday of each month, along with another date in the first week. Meetings are typically in the early evening and the location varies over the St. Louis metro area. The meeting sizes are usually smaller - we limit attendance to 15-20, and meetings are typically held in member's homes. The themes vary each month- sometimes based on region, grape, characteristics, food pairings, winery visits, etc- please check the website for past and upcoming meeting themes.  The majority of us are 25-45, and none of us are wine "connoisseurs", but we all like drinking wine and enjoy learning more about it. Some of us are part of a couple, some are single, so all are welcome!!

Our "mission" is really just to taste good time, learn a little, and have a good time and hopefully discover a wine we can't wait to buy again.   Feel free to look around the website and please contact us if you have any questions, or would like to come to a meeting. We hope to see you soon!
