HOLLYWOOD VINE WINE TASTING! Tuesday November 3rd, 2009 6:00-9:00 pm No charge for tastings
Domaine Ehrhart “Herrenweg” Riesling 2006 Alsace, France …attractive fusil, lime-fruited, and honeyed nose that could only come from an Alsace Riesling; a silken texture, discreet oiliness, and citric refreshment; plus an intriguing finish suggesting citrus zest, salts, chalk, wet stones, and toasted pumpkin seeds. BTG $7.50 Retail $19.99
Peter Lehmann “Layers” White Blend 2009 Australia Spicy, refreshing and light in texture. A bit sweet, with pear, lychee and honeydew flavors in a restrained mix. Sémillon, Muscat, Gewürztraminer and others. Wine Spectator 87 points BTG $5.75 Retail $14.99
Vinosia Primitivo 2007 Salento, Italy Readers looking for a tasty, value priced red will want to consider the 2007 Primitivo from Vinosia. A juicy, mouth filling red, the wine is loaded with fragrant dark red fruit in a soft, seamless style showing no hard edges. This is a strong candidate for casual, informal drinking and would make a great house wine. Robert Parker 86 points BTG $5.25 Retail $13.99
Nine Stones "Hilltops" Shiraz 2007 Australia Ripe and generous, this Australian red shows a minerally edge to its blackberry and cardamom flavors, remaining open and inviting through the long, deftly balanced finish. Wine Spectator 90 points! “Smart Buy” BTG $5..25 Retail $13.99
Buehler Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 Napa Valley, California Trim and balanced, with an elegant mix of cedary oak, nutmeg, dried currant and mineral notes. Medium- to full-bodied, this tapers off a bit on the finish, but offers lots of complexity, balance and easy-drinking appeal. Wine Spectator 87 points BTG $8.75 Retail $23.99 |
