Customers who stop by Garnet Wines & Liquors on Friday, October 30th will have a special opportunity to learn about Italian wines from an esteemed wine expert, Alessia Antinori.

About Alessia Antinori

Alessia Antinori is an Oenologist for Antinori Wines.  This family-owned company’s heritage boasts 26 generations and over 600 years of traditional and innovative wine production in Tuscany and Umbria.  The family registered in the Florentine Vintners' Guild in 1385, and traces its tradition of wine making back to 1180.

Alessia Antinori, the youngest of the three daughters of Marchese Piero Antinori, is a native of Florence and spent summers and weekends at her family's wine estates in Chianti Classico and Umbria learning the intricacies of wine making.  For over a decade, she has participated in harvests at the family's Tignanello estate in Chianti Classico and Guado al Tasso in Bolgheri.  Ms. Antinori manages one of her family’s new estates, Montenisa, located in Franciacorta, which produces high quality sparkling wines.  Recently, she became export manager of new emerging countries in the world including those from the Middle East, Asia (excluding Japan and Korea) and Australia.

Ms. Antinori served as President of the Premium Familiae Vini in 2003-2004, an organization of 12 of the most prestigious wine families of the world.  She graduated with a degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the Department of Food Science and Technology at the Agrarian University of Milan in January 1998.
