Join us this week as we invite the representative from Ole Imports who will be tasting us on some great Spanish Wines.  Spain has earned a reputation as a source of high quality wines at very reasonable prices, and trust us these wines we will be tasting don't disappoint.  

 

2007 Senorio de Barahonda "Heredad de Candela" Monestrell Yecla................$25.99

91 Points Robert Parker-The 2007 Heredad de Candela is 100% Monastrell aged for nine months in new 500-liter French oak. Deep crimson-colored, it offers up an alluring perfume of pain grille, mineral, violets, black cherry, and blueberry. Velvety on the palate, it has layers of savory dark fruit, rich flavors, excellent balance, and a pure finish. Drink it over the next six years

 

2005 Bodegas Matarredonda "Juan Rojo" Tempranillo Toro...............................$21.99

90 Points Robert Parker-The dark ruby-colored 2005 Juan Rojo spent eight months in French oak. It gives up attractive aromas of cedar, spice box, black cherry, and black raspberry. Ripe, spicy, and intensely flavored, this rich effort will evolve for another 3-4 years and drink well through 2020. It is an excellent value. Both Bodegas Matarredonda wines are sourced from old vine Tempranillo

 

2006 Vinos Sin-Ley "G5" Granacha Madrid.........................................................$15.99

90 Points Robert Parker-The 2006 G5 from the D.O. of Madrid is purple-colored with a slightly roasted character featuring black cherry and black raspberry aromas and flavors. Plush and layered with a bit of underlying structure, this tasty Garnacha has 2-3 years of aging potential but will be hard to resist early on. This is an excellent value to drink over the next three years. Vinos Sin-Ley’s G Series is designed to showcase the Garnacha grape as expressed in 6 different D.O.s. The wines are all raised in stainless steel to present the fruit in its purest form.

 

2008 Cellar Vinoa Pinol "Ludovicus"  Red Wine Terra Alta..................................$11.99

90 Points Robert Parker-The 2008 Ludovicus is a blend of 35% Garnacha, 30% Tempranillo, 25% Syrah, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for three months in French and American oak. It has a glass-coating deep crimson hue with an expressive nose of cherry, blueberry, and blackberry. Mouth-filling, succulent, and flavorful, this tasty effort is a sensational value for drinking over the next 1-2 years. Celler Vinos Pinol was founded in 1945 and today is led by the fourth generation of the family. The estate owns 100 acres in the town of Batea in the Terra Alta DO located just a few miles from Priorat

 

2008 Bodegas Berroja "Berroia" White Wine Chacoli Bizkaia..............................$17.99

90 Points Robert Parker-The 2008 Berroioa is a blend of 90% Hondarribi Zuri, 6% Folle Blanche, and 4% Riesling raised in stainless steel. Medium straw-colored with a slight amber tint, it exhibits an enticing nose of spring flowers, mineral, apple, and anise. Round on the palate with good acidity, the wine has excellent grip, balance, and length. It is an excellent value in Txakoli for drinking over the next 1-2 years. Bodegas Berroja was founded in 2001 by Jose Angel Carrero. The estate owns 37 acres of vineyards in the province of Bizkaia in Basque country

 

2008 Hernanos del Villar "Ipsum" White Wine Rueda...........................................$9.99

"Best Buy" Robert Parker- Upfront, the wine is very light, almost taste transparent, with a flavor that reminds me of the remants of an apple fruit salad. However, the light bodied wine develops beautifully as it moves gracefully through the mouth, revealing wonderful flavors of grapefruit, melon and strawberry. The finish is long and slow leaving a taste shifting pear-into-apple-into-grapefruit flavor

 

 

Don't forget to purchase your HenderZIN tickets early! The event is this Satursday, Oct 24th 5-8pm.  Tickets are $50 in advance and $65 at the door.  For only $50 guests get to enjoy over 40 Zinfandels, BBQ provided by Outlaw Backyard BBQ, Live Music from local musician Skip Eaton, a Riedel "O" glass to take home, and of course a great time hanging out with friends and family.

 

This event also marks Khoury's 5th year anniversary!  Woo Hoo!
