Washington State, sometimes called “The Perfect Climate for Wine”, is located on the same latitude as Burgundy and Bordeaux. Grapes are grown mainly on the dry and sunny eastern side of the Cascade Mountains.
The state currently ranks second behind California in the production of premium wine. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot dominate the reds and Chardonnay and Riesling are the major white wines.
