8th Annual First Press Grand Tasting

On Friday, November 13 Valley winos and foodies will reconvene at the 8th Annual First Press Weekend of Wine, beginning with the First Press Grand Tasting. Taking place at the Hotel Valley Ho from 7 – 10 p.m. (beginning at 6 p.m. for VIPs), this one-of-a-kind event will feature award-winning wines, a “Food Fight” competition and VIP penthouse suites, each featuring a unique Valley restaurant. Presented by Friends of Public Radio Arizona, this annual event benefits Phoenix public radio stations KJZZ 91.5, KBAQ 89.5 and Sun Sounds of Arizona.
Valley residents are invited to sip their way through over 100 award-winning wines from across the nation, including many from Napa and Sonoma Valley, Paso Robles and Washington. The Honorary Chair of this year’s event, Justin Baldwin of JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery will also have various wines featured in each of the VIP penthouse suites.
While sipping from the finest grapes in the country, guests are also invited to enjoy gourmet hors d’oeuvres and watch as Chef Eddie Matney of Eddie’s House and Chef Michael DeMaria of Heirloom compete in the 3rd Annual Food Fight, being judged by a celebrity panel consisting of Mix 96.9’s morning DJ Chris Parker, 3TV’s Kaley O’Kelley and the 07-08 Food Fight Champ, Aaron May. VIP guests can also enjoy the finest fare from Valley restaurants, including Durant’s, Café Zuzu and The Melting Pot.
