The CWS Basics Course is aimed at those either just developing their interest in wines or for those who need a good review (it is offered every semester).
CLASS 1: How grapegrowing and winemaking affect wine styles and flavors plus the art & technique of winetasting.
CLASS 2: This session covers the major types of red wines (fruity vs. mellow, drinkable now vs. later, etc.).
CLASS 3: Major types of white & rosé wines (Chardonnays with & without oak, the "off-drys", dessert wines, etc.).
CLASS 4: Dry, medium and sweet fortified wines concentrating upon Ports & Sherries.
CLASS 5: Champagne & sparkling wines -- from inexpensive "Bulk Process" bubblies to French Champagne.
This Basics course will take place at TANNINS (112 N York St in Elmhurst, steps from the Metra stop). It starts at 6:30 PM on Monday, November 2nd and ends Monday, December 7th (skipping Nov. 9th). Sessions last approximately 90 minutes There is street parking
