Dinner with Cathy Corison
For more than a decade, we have championed the wines of Cathy Corison. Cathy took over the winemaking at Chappelet in 1981, where she was responsible for the celebrated 1984, 1985, 1986 cabernets. In 1987 however, she started her own winery, Corison. Corison cabernets were extraordinarily sophisticated then, as they are today. Moreover her wines (as we predicted) have proven to be some of the most age-worthy cabernet produced in California. People didn’t believe us but now the smart ones have come around. Eric Asimov has written as much in The New York Times .
Cathy visits us whenever she is out on the East Coast and we reciprocate when we’re out West. She doesn’t come out that often though so November 20th will be a rare opportunity to sit with us and Cathy and several of her wines. She will bring some rare older vintages from her library and we’ll be matching up several vintages of her Cabernet Sauvignon with dinner. Do come and enjoy some of the most age-worthy, food-friendly, sophisticated cabernet produce in California.
