Wine OR Wine & Food Event

Wine OR Wine & Food

Join Pourtal Wine Bar in welcoming the director of sales from Tantara Winery, Ernie Vandegrift. Taste the wine, ask questions and learn about the beautiful vineyards that produce some of the best wine, right up the road from Santa Monica.

Ernie will be pouring a flight of four current releases ($15 plus tax):

2007 Pinot Blanc Bien Nacido Vineyard, SMV, AVA

2007 Chardonnay Santa Maria Valley, SMV, AVA

2007 Pinot Noir Rio Vista Vineyard, SRH, AVA

2007 Pinot Noir Lindsay's Vineyard, SRH, AVA

Located on the beautiful Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley (Santa Barbara County), Tantara wines are sourced from top Central Coast growers and vineyard designate from vineyards such as Bien Nacido, Dierberg, Solomon Hills, Sanford & Benedict, Rand more.
Because of their commitment to detail and the finite amount of fruit that meets our standards, total production is around 5,000 cases

Tantara was the name of a horse owned by Bill Cates some years ago. After Tantara was retired to pasture, she defied predictions of an imminent demise and lived to a ripe old age. Horses symbolize elegance, grace and power and in Tantara's case, long life, all of which are qualities we embrace for our wine.

Santa Rita Hills Tasting Tour, A collection of 8 acclaimed Pinot Noirs

October 15th to November 15th

The Santa Rita Hills (spelled Sta. Rita hills) grape-growing region represents the western edge of the Santa Ynez Valley, just north of Santa Barbara.  The hills actually have the unique feature of encompassing a 100 square mile valley that runs east-west, while most valleys in California run north-south. This corridor to the Pacific Ocean contributes to a gentle 52 to 85 degree weather by bringing in the cooler temperatures that are so important to achieving the vivid red fruit flavors and deep coloring (contributing to small Pinot Noir berry size/juice ratio) prized Pinot Noirs.

Pourtal has secured eight highly sought after Pinot Noirs so that the public may taste them starting October 15th and lasting until November 15th or until sold out.  The Tasting Tour is priced per taste, so individuals can choose any number of the selections to tr at their own pace,  including 32 additional wines from around the world.  No reservations necessary, all wine available to taste during Pourtal’s normal business hours.
