Cave Dweller Saturday’s Complimentary Wine Tastings Courtesy of La Cave Warehouse
Our Cave Dweller Saturday tasting on September 19, between 11:00am and 1:00pm, will feature the powerful and dynamic Rhone Valley of France. You will taste four superb wines, two whites and two reds, which demonstrate the high-quality and wide range of style in the stunning Rhone Valley. In our Cave Dweller Saturday event on August 29, we poured a range of wines exposing a small section of what the Loire Valley can offer; on September 19, we will journey more deeply into another amazing wine region of France and explore the Rhone Valley! Please join us Saturday, September 19 to taste these remarkable wines!
Attendance is free, but please RSVP by calling (214) 747-9463 by Thurs, September 17, 2009.
Following are the wines we will taste on September 19:
Côteaux du Tricastin Blanc, F. Reverdy 2006 $ 9.99/ Bt $ 53.95/ 6 Bt $ 101.90/ 12 Bt Côteaux du Tricastin is the northernmost wine-growing AOC in the southern area of the Rhône wine region of France. It is also one of the oldest - wine has been produced in the region since the antiquity. Frédéric Reverdy’s white is produced from Marsanne, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc and Clairette Blanc. With floral notes on the nose, this wine displays very fresh aromas of white peach, apricot and a good minerality on the finish. Delicious on its own, it will be the perfect accompaniment to a wide variety of salads, poultry, seafood and fish of all types. Drink now-2011. Delas, Côtes du Rhône, St Esprit 2007 $ 12.99/ Bt $ 70.15/ 6 Bt $132.50/ 12 Bt “The amazing 2007 Cotes du Rhone St.-Esprit (75% Syrah and 25% Grenache) reveals a northern Rhône orientation, but it is loaded with spice and black fruits, and displays a beautiful opulent texture as well as a gorgeous finish with impressive purity. This great northern Rhône negociant, spearheaded by their brilliant oenologist and winemaker, Jacques Grange, has consistently made fabulous wines from the northern appellations, but only recently upgraded the quality of their southern Rhone selections. These are the finest southern Rhônes they have made, and their Cotes du Rhone St.-Esprit ranks alongside the offerings from Guigal and Chapoutier.” Exceptional value! Robert Parker (90 points) Drink now - 2012 Château Val Joanis Red 2005 $ 15.99 / Bt $ 86.35 / 6 Bt $ 163.10 / 12 Bt "Dark, spicy with subtle leather and blackberry fruit. It is plump and fleshy in the mouth, with a layer of cocoa covering the plum and berry fruit. It has a nice smoky finish with a chewy tinge, solid fruit, a great finish, round and smooth. Loaded with Grenache fruit and ready to drink" Wine Spectator “Best value” Decanter Magazine “Best value” Drink now-2010 Domaine de Fontlade, Cuvée St Qvinis 2006 $ 19.99/ Bt $ 107.95/ 6 Bt $ 203.90/12 Bt From the heart of Provence, this juicy blend of Grenache and Syrah exudes red plum, mineral and berry along with a very fresh appeal of the Provence’s “maquis”. A wine with great grip, wonderful notes of anise and olive accent the crisp, spicy and well-structured finish. A fantastic value from a very consistent producer! Drink now through 2013
