There has been an explosion in recent years of interesting white grapes that have become their own through newer white wine appellations. Some of them are lost ancient grapes, others were traditional blending grapes, and still others have been around for centuries but not yet discovered by Americans. Enjoy this sampling of some wines that you will not find easily elsewhere, including South American torrontes, Sicilian grillo, Rhone Valley marsanne, Austrian gruener veltliner, and others. Served with basic cheeses and bread.
