The nebbiolo grape from the Piedmont of Italy is the king of red grapes, and the wines that are made from this grape are the kings of red wine. It is the biggest red grape of the world, known for its ability to create powerful, masculine, dry wines that have enormous aging capability, including Barolo, Barbaresco, Gattinara, and Langhe. These are best enjoyed with rich, slow cooked, traditional Piemontese food, so a full meal of osso buco with polenta and truffle will compliment the experience.
