Jean Hugel, one of the great "characters" of the wine world, died in July.  "Johnny", as he was affectionately known, played a key role in the re-generation of the Alsace wine industry in the years after the end of the Second World War and travelled tirelessly to develop export markets for the wines of the region.  We will taste wines from the family's "Tradition" and "Jubilee" ranges, which are made from the four "noble" varieties of Alsace - Muscat, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer.
