“The Other Guys” Tasting
AnnaLisa Stockwell from The Opici Wine Company will join us for some “stand out wines from some laid back guys”.
Hey Mambo Swanky White 2006
A refreshing blend of eyebrow-raising charm, this Hey Mambo Swanky White is an uncommon treasure. This 2006 vintage is a harmonious blend of Viognier, Chenin Blanc, Muscat Canelli, and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. With a hue of fine yellow crystal, this wine unfolds with aromas of floral
blossoms, rose petals, ripe apricots and a hint of cloves over a backdrop of lemon-lime from the Muscat. The palate is very juicy, honeyed with gooseberries from the presence of Viognier and grassy tones from the Sauvignon Blanc. This wine’s heart and soul is captivatingly fruity, with
crisp acidity driven by the Chenin Blanc. It concludes with a clean, dry finish of Pink Lady apples, orchard peach and limestone.
Hey Mambo Sultry Red 2006
The 2006 vintage is an ensemble of Syrah, Barbera, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Malbec, and Alicante Bouchet grapes. The deep color of uncut-rubies, this bistro wine features nostalgic aromas of black cherry jam, tobacco barns, and sweet leather, thanks to Syrah and old-world style Barbera. This sultry red has both depth and texture with an intense palate of dense berries, like boysenberry and cassis, courtesy of the Petite Sirah. The Zinfandel, Malbec and Alicante Bouchet, deliver flavors of mulling spices and cracked black pepper with firm tannins and a supple, silky finish.
Leese Fitch Chardonnay 2006
The fruit for the Leese Fitch Chardonnay is taken from Monterey, Livermore and Mendocino. It’s a wine with good, crisp acids and tropical fruit balanced by integrated French oak. Flavors of lemon with an edge of porcini mushroom give the wine depth and complexity.
Leese Fitch Merlot 2006
The Leese Fitch Merlot is a beautiful blend of 82% Merlot from Monterey, 16% Petite Sirah from Lodi and 2% Zinfandel from Dry Creek. Notes of boysenberry and dark cherry are followed by spice and velvety tannin. The Petite Sirah and Zinfandel give the wine added depth and balance.
